Founded in 1997, San Diego Hua Xia Chinese School (SDHXCS) is a nonprofit, secular, and apolitical educational organization with 501(c)(3) status. The school is the first local Chinese language school that teaches simplified Chinese and Pinyin (Chinese phonetic).
Our mission is to provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for students to acquire skills of comprehension, communication, reading and writing in Mandarin Chinese,to instill an awareness of the Chinese heritage, creating programs to introduce Chinese culture to the community, and to promote mutual understanding between different ethnic groups.
Our school grow rapidly since very beginning. With enrollment over 1,100 each school year, SDHXCS has become the largest Chinese language educational organization in San Diego. Five programs (Bilingual, Regular, Credit, AP Chinese, and Enrichment) offer 60 Chinese classes and over 30 enrichment classes to meet the needs of our students with different levels of proficiency and interests.
In 2003, SDHXCS's Credit Program (Level I through Level IV) was born. The program is widely accredited by local school districts. In 2006, AP Chinese course was added. The course is approved by and registered with College Board. The programs are fully accredited by ASC WACS (Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Colleges and Schools).

Can't believe half of the school year has gone by. We are reaching the 16th week of 2017-2018.
1) Looking for summer class? H & H Advancement is coming back for an informational meeting. Application is accepted on site. Please see attached flyer and form.

Date & Time: February 4, 9:30 - 10:30.
2) 2018 American East-West Vocal Idol Competition application deadline January 31, 2018. Don't miss it! Information and application form are attached here (1, 2). 3) “寻根之旅” Summer camp:
- We will send out notice as soon as new camps application open. Please check your teachers email frequently, or check Weekly News on school website. Be prepared. Don't wait, as for it tends to fill quickly.
- You need to apply directly on CSAUS website www.csaus.org .
- Our school is a member of CSAUS.

1) One more week before Hua Xia Chinese New Year! See attached Poster (CH,EN) for details.
--Location: Hourglass field, near tennis court. Refer to attached map.
-- Booth layout and booth # will be send out soon to room parents and teachers.
-- Students are required to arrive on site no later than 9:30.
--Booth hosts should arrive at least by 9:00 to unload supply and prepare for business.
--Major Parking as usual, in Lot 1. Please leave those limited parking slot around the event field to the parents who need to load and unload supplies.
2) Pre-sale in the office！Hua Xia Chinese New Year Festival is a no-cash based event. Food / drink / games accept tickets only. Incentive for pre-sale: for every $20 purchase of tickets ($1 each) you get an extra $1, PLUS a raffle ticket for prize drawing at the Festival. Most importantly, you don't have to wait in line to get tickets on that day. Purchase it now and set go of your youngsters! No waiting. Lots of Fun!
3) !! Piano Concert - Chasing My Dream in the Invisible World, by Ms Wang Xiangjun, a junior student from Tianjin Conservatory of Music, China.
This concert is jointly held by SDHXCS and SDSU Confucius Institute.
Date & Time: Saturday, February 17, 2:00-4:00 pm,
Location: Proscenium Theater, Canyon Crest Academy, 5951 Village Center Loop Road.
Admission: Free. (Donation accepted)
Ms Wang is no ordinary girl. She is visually impaired at birth. Her story is so inspirational, her achievement is so unusual that she reminds me of Helen Keller. You should come and meet Wang Xiangjun.

Dear Hua Xia Families,
Last week's Hua Xia Chinese New Year Festival was another success! The game was fun, the show was great, the weather was perfect, and the business was sweet! What a fun day!
Thanks to the great organizing effort made by the management team, the support of the faculties, and all the students and parents who participated in the event.
For this coming Sunday:
1) CNY ticket redeem from 10:30 to 2:30 in the office. Booth hosts please count your collected tickets, bundle it up in 50s, put it a brown bag, mark it with your class ID (or business name for non Hua Xia organizations. )
2) We want to hear your feedback on CNY festival ! Room parents (all parents are welcome to stop by) this Sunday at PTA room (F-209):
3) College application counseling! Ivymax (飞达学院) will host a seminar on March 11, at A-110, 10:00 - 12:00. Pre-registration required. See attached flyer for QR code.
