Founded in 1997, San Diego Hua Xia Chinese School (SDHXCS) is a nonprofit, secular, and apolitical educational organization with 501(c)(3) status.  The school is the first local Chinese language school that teaches simplified Chinese and Pinyin (Chinese phonetic). 

          Our mission is to provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for students to acquire skills of comprehension, communication, reading and writing in Mandarin Chinese,to instill an awareness of the Chinese heritage, creating programs to introduce Chinese culture to the community, and to promote mutual understanding between different ethnic groups. 

          Our school grow rapidly since very beginning. With enrollment over 1,100 each school year, SDHXCS has become the largest Chinese language educational organization in San Diego.  Five programs (Bilingual, Regular, Credit, AP Chinese, and Enrichment) offer 60 Chinese classes and over 30 enrichment classes to meet the needs of our students with different levels of proficiency and interests.

          In 2003, SDHXCS's Credit Program (Level I through Level IV) was born. The program is widely accredited by local school districts. In 2006, AP Chinese course was added. The course is approved by and registered with College Board. The programs are fully accredited by ASC WACS (Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Colleges and Schools).

Hello Hua Xia Families!
 
Only 1 more week before our CNY Festival! Cheers! 
 
No change on Class schedules for this coming Sunday.
 
1) Visa service this Sunday, 10 am - 2 pm. Passport return next Sunday 2/8, pick up at 10 am by the office.
 
2) Last chance to get your "Money" for the Festival! Raffle ticket pre-sale continues in the office. $1 each, every $20 purchase gets an extra $1! Plus a chance to win a prize!  Buy now and save your wait-in-line time on the day!
 
3) Last minute to Join your class team for the fun games! You will love it! Sign up with your room parents Today!
 
4) On 2/8 CNY Festival day, all participating teams should arrive at 9:00 am and prepare for the Opening. Event begins at 10 am sharp! (see flyer)
 
5) All class' teams meet in the field by the sign which bears the ID of your grade, i.e. CH1 is for 1st grade of Regular class, CR2 is for level 2 of Credit class, etc.. Your team leaders will meet you there. 
 
6) In order to run the games smoothly, Game Players must be on time for every game you signed in. Competition schedule may be altered if players arrive late. 
 
7) A field map is attached here for your reference. Take a walk to the field this Sunday if you are not familiar with the campus. The field is off the tennis court. With the construction blocks surrounding J building and the Pool, it is a little tricky to get around. The best walk-through path is between the main soccer field and the Pool building.
 
8) An event site layout and a competition schedule will be send to you soon, to help you find your booth and game time. Please check your email frequently. 
 
9) Parking space around the field is very limited, especially now has the construction blocks. If you do not need to unload supplies, please park in the lots where you normally do, and walk to the field. 
 
10) A few more dragon players (7) are needed for the baby dragon! Parents and high school boys welcome! This time we plan to have 2 dragons play together at the Opening. You want to be part of it!

Dear Hua Xia Families,
 
2015 Hua Xia Chinese New Year Festival is finally here, this Sunday, February 8th!
 
Attached please find Hourglass Park map (look for CNY), CNY FlyerSite LayoutBooth Assignment, and Program (draft).  
Game chart will be out later today. 
 
Here are some notes:
 
1) All teams are required to arrive at 9 am to prepare for the Opening. There will be signs by the game area indicating each grade level, i.e. CH1, BL4, CR3, etc., students should be assembled by there, and check in with your Team leaders. For each game you have signed in, please meet your teammates and team leader at the same place - the sign. 
 
2) Parking space surrounding the field is very limited. Let's save it for the parents who need to load and unload booth supplies. The rest of us should park where we normally do. From the student lots, a path between the soccer field and the pool building leads you to our event site. 
 
3) Booth hosts should arrive early to set up. Booths should be ready for you by 8am. Find your class booth in the Booth Assignment, and locate it in the Site Layout. 
 
4)  No cash trade except the laser tag game. Raffle ticket $1 each sold at the ticket booths is for food and anything from class booths. Laser Tag game $5/pp pay cash separately to the host. Bring enough green bills with you! Prefer $20 or smaller. 
 
5) Keep the field clean! Please leave the trash in the trash bag/bin, and pick up after yourselves!
 
6) Food Safety! If you are allergic to any type of food, please Do Not purchase anything from the booths, for cross contamination is guaranteed! We do not want anything happen to you.

Hope you all enjoyed the week off with the Chinese New Year celebration. Congratulations to the students and parents who participated in ACCEF annual performance! That was a beautiful show. 
 
School resumes this coming Sunday, 2/22.  Here are a few events for this week and the following weeks:
 
1) Planning summer class? H&H Advancement is coming back!  Informational meeting: February 22, 9:45 - 10:45 am, PTA room. Sign-up sheet fills up fast! See attached flyer and application for details.  
 
2) Understand your body, and Learn how to strengthen it effectively, through main and collateral channels!    
Workshop: February 22, 1:35 - 3:20 pmI building court yardDetails are in the attachments (1 & 2). 
 
3) CNY ruffle tickets redeem this Sunday in the office. Please count and bundle up your collection to $50s, put them in a brown bag with your class ID and teacher's name on it.  
 
4) If you haven't visit Sea World for a while, you may find Chinese New Year theme in the park right now and enjoy a HongBao on these days: 2/21-2/22, 2/28, and 3/1. Don't miss it! We cherish that the Chinese tradition is more acknowledged here in town!
 
5) Summer camps in China information was sent to you on 2/12. Space is very limited. Dear Hua Xia Families!
 
What a wonderful festival we had last Sunday!  The food was great , the games and performances were wonderful, and the weather couldn't be better! Most importantly,We Had Fun! 
 
Sales of the day was $18,000+ !  Booth hosts were very happy with the results of the day's work, and are coming up with new ideas and plan to do better for next year! 
 
Special "Thanks!" to all the room parents who organized game teams and managed booths, to the team leaders of Dragon Dance, and Chinese Drum, and to all the volunteers at various level and stage in planning, preparing and eventually carrying out the HUGE task! You made the Festival a memorable day!
