Founded in 1997, San Diego Hua Xia Chinese School (SDHXCS) is a nonprofit, secular, and apolitical educational organization with 501(c)(3) status.  The school is the first local Chinese language school that teaches simplified Chinese and Pinyin (Chinese phonetic). 

          Our mission is to provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for students to acquire skills of comprehension, communication, reading and writing in Mandarin Chinese,to instill an awareness of the Chinese heritage, creating programs to introduce Chinese culture to the community, and to promote mutual understanding between different ethnic groups. 

          Our school grow rapidly since very beginning. With enrollment over 1,100 each school year, SDHXCS has become the largest Chinese language educational organization in San Diego.  Five programs (Bilingual, Regular, Credit, AP Chinese, and Enrichment) offer 60 Chinese classes and over 30 enrichment classes to meet the needs of our students with different levels of proficiency and interests.

          In 2003, SDHXCS's Credit Program (Level I through Level IV) was born. The program is widely accredited by local school districts. In 2006, AP Chinese course was added. The course is approved by and registered with College Board.

Dear SDHXCS families,

Time flies. Can't believe this is the last weekly-news for the school year 2020-21. I want to thank all our teachers, staff, and parents being so patient and supportive during the distance learning mode. Everyone did an awesome job, and I am so proud of you!

Here are the notes for the coming weeks:

  • SDHXCS 2021-22 registration will stay open during the summer. But the $50 registration fee can only be waived for the current students whose registration is completed before 5/16 (this Sunday). Some parents had issues during the registration process due to the ongoing website upgrade project, so please make sure read the enrollment guidance and follow the instructions step-by-step.   • There is no grade or class time selection for current student registration. We assume that you will keep the same class time and promote to the next grade. If you'd like to change your class time or have a non-routine request, please fill out the registration information change form online.   • The school office will open on 5/22 (next Saturday) from 10:30 am – 2:00 pm on the parking lot at 7920 Arjons Drive, Suite H, San Diego, CA 92126. You can come to pick up your reading/speech contest trophies if you haven't.
  • It is appreciated if you can participate our parent survey regarding this year's online classes. Here is the link to the online survey. https://forms.gle/M5ZmVuPG3bAipGCz5 We don't know yet whether we can start the new school year on the campus. It depends on the overall pandemic and Miramar College campus re-open policy. We will share the decision once we hear a definite answer. Thanks for your patience.
  • For the service deposits that haven't been refunded due to limited PTA jobs, the office will schedule a time to do so in late August.
  • SDHXCS AP Class 2021 online graduation ceremony is scheduled on 5/23 (Sunday) at 10:00 am. Due to limited online event seating, only AP class students and parents are invited. If you aren't invited but want to attend, please send me an email and we will put you on a waiting list.
  • Because of the COVID-19, we won't be able to host the annual teacher appreciation banquet. Like last year, we will be hosting an online teacher appreciation conference on 5/23 (Sunday) at 2:30 pm. All the teachers and room-parent representatives (one per class) are invited to attend. Please mark your calendar and ask your teacher how to reserve your spot.
