Founded in 1997, San Diego Hua Xia Chinese School (SDHXCS) is a nonprofit, secular, and apolitical educational organization with 501(c)(3) status. The school is the first local Chinese language school that teaches simplified Chinese and Pinyin (Chinese phonetic).
Our mission is to provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for students to acquire skills of comprehension, communication, reading and writing in Mandarin Chinese,to instill an awareness of the Chinese heritage, creating programs to introduce Chinese culture to the community, and to promote mutual understanding between different ethnic groups.
Our school grow rapidly since very beginning. With enrollment over 1,100 each school year, SDHXCS has become the largest Chinese language educational organization in San Diego. Five programs (Bilingual, Regular, Credit, AP Chinese, and Enrichment) offer 60 Chinese classes and over 30 enrichment classes to meet the needs of our students with different levels of proficiency and interests.
In 2003, SDHXCS's Credit Program (Level I through Level IV) was born. The program is widely accredited by local school districts. In 2006, AP Chinese course was added. The course is approved by and registered with College Board. The programs are fully accredited by ASC WACS (Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Colleges and Schools).

The enrichment class can be registered under your moodle account. If you don’t know your user ID, please ask your Chinese teacher. Your default password is your student’s birth date in the format of YYYYMMDD.
Registration for adult morning Zumba and Yoga classes & afternoon Martial Arts Dance class is to be completed in the classroom with the teachers, check or cash.
To parents with a young student, it is highly recommended that you guide your student to the location for the first-class meet.

- PARKING Lot 1, 2, 3 are the main areas for us to park. Please Do Not park in the Reserved or Handicapped space unless you have a permit. Do Not park in front of the office for any reason. It is reserved for school staff to load /unload supplies. Absolutely NO parking on the roadside. Campus Police can issue violation tickets.

- The PTA is calling all the room parents and whoever parents interested to join the “greet, chat and share” session on 10/6 (next Sunday) at F-209, the classroom next to the school office. The morning session is 9:45 - 10:30 and the afternoon session starts from 1:45 to 2:30.
- Some of the enrichment classes are still available for registration. If you are interested, please check the class availability under your moodle account and complete the registration. - If you were last year Regular or Bilingual program room parent, to thank you for your good work been done, it’s the time to claim your current year tuition discount of $50 (gift card). Please stop by office F212 on or before 11/17/2019.
- This year Chinese New Year celebration event is scheduled on 1/19/2020. In the last PTA meeting, Tina has shared information for stage performance, booth activities, and sports & games. Please see attached PTA Meeting Minutes for details.
- Regular and Bilingual program students Handwriting Competition (写字比赛) is scheduled this Sunday 10/20. Please don’t be late for the class and good luck to every one of you!
- Students' safety is always our top priority. We assign parents on duty to perform routine safety patrols on the campus. However, there are over 1,000 students on the campus each Sunday, we need all the parents to constantly remind your student/(s) or their siblings DO NOT run or chase around on the campus, in the classroom, or in the hallway to avoid hurting or getting hurt. If an accident happens or if you notice any potential safety risks at school, please report to your teacher or to the office at your first available. Together, let’s ensure a safe and fun Chinese learning environment for our students.
