Dear SDHXCS families,

Yesterday we and Xingjian Dance Studio, together with other 4 Chinese American originations, hosted a big PPE donation event, handing out over 15,000 PPEs to over 30 nursing homes and senior livings. Both KUSI and CBS 8 reported the event in their prime-time news. They were impressed by our class funds donation to help the pandemic. Again, thank you all for your support and help during this challenging time. I am looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Dear SDHXCS families,

I hope you all had a healthy and safe 2020 summer. Back in March when we just switched to remote, I never imaged that we would start our 2020-21 school year with the distance learning mode. Anyway, welcome back to San Diego Hua Xia Chinese School (SDHXCS)! Our staff and teachers have worked tirelessly over the summer to get ready for the new school year. Here we are! The first day of the school year 2020-21 is this coming Sunday (8/30/2020). Attached please find the new school year calendar.

Notes for the first school weeks:

  • By now you should have received a welcome email from your teacher. Please read the email carefully for the zoom class information, the mandatory parent meeting, as well as the class rules for online learning.

You may also find your class information by login to your student account. The default password is the student’s birthday in the format of YYYYMMDD. Forgotten password can be easily retrieved online.

For new students, you may contact your teacher for the username.

All the information related to registration, transfer, and/or withdrawal can be found on the school website, or by contacting us at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

  • The school at 7920 Arjons Drive, San Diego 92126 parking lot will open again this Saturday 8/29 10:30 am – 2:30 pm. Please come to buy the textbook, claim your $50 gift card refund if you didn’t get assigned the campus patrol service during 2019-20, submit/need signatures for high school off campus form, request SDHXCS summer session receipt, etc. Please note that we don’t plan to provide onsite service until late October.
  • We offer many interesting online enrichment classes for the 2020-21 school year, https://sdhxcs.org/index.php/en/programs/enrichment-program. Click each class to find the description and details of each class and the teacher. Please take advantage of the trial class on 9/13. All the students must complete the enrichment registration before the start of 9/20 enrichment classes. Please register the enrichment class after careful consideration because the enrichment class tuition is NOT refundable NOR transferable.
  • The virtual school makes it harder for the communication between the school and our parents. Tina will schedule virtual meetings with the room-parent representatives from each class to keep up the routine communication. If you use WeChat, you may want to join our SDHXCS teacher/parent WeChat group for quicker response. Attached is the bar code for SDHXCS WeChat Group II.
  • To help kids continue learning arts and develop creativity while staying home during this challenging time, a group of talented and award-winning Del Norte High Schoolers is offering free skill-based art classes. If you are interested, please refer to the attached flyer.

I will see you this Saturday at 7920 Arjons Drive, 92126 parking lot or meet the students virtually this Sunday 8/30!

Cheers!

Yi Cai
