Founded in 1997, San Diego Hua Xia Chinese School (SDHXCS) is a nonprofit, secular, and apolitical educational organization with 501(c)(3) status.  The school is the first local Chinese language school that teaches simplified Chinese and Pinyin (Chinese phonetic). 

          Our mission is to provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for students to acquire skills of comprehension, communication, reading and writing in Mandarin Chinese,to instill an awareness of the Chinese heritage, creating programs to introduce Chinese culture to the community, and to promote mutual understanding between different ethnic groups. 

          Our school grow rapidly since very beginning. With enrollment over 1,100 each school year, SDHXCS has become the largest Chinese language educational organization in San Diego.  Five programs (Bilingual, Regular, Credit, AP Chinese, and Enrichment) offer 60 Chinese classes and over 30 enrichment classes to meet the needs of our students with different levels of proficiency and interests.

          In 2003, SDHXCS's Credit Program (Level I through Level IV) was born. The program is widely accredited by local school districts. In 2006, AP Chinese course was added. The course is approved by and registered with College Board. The programs are fully accredited by ASC WACS (Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Colleges and Schools).

Dear Hua Xia Families,
 
1) Daylight Saving time ends this Sunday at 12:00 am. Please set your clock 1 hour backward Saturday evening before you go to bed. Enjoy the extra hour sleeping time!
 
2) Visa service this Sunday, 10 am - 2 pm, in the office.
 
3) RP Penmanship Contest begins this Sunday. Parents, you can be one of the evaluators of your child's class! Please contact your teachers for details.
 
4) Chinese New Year Festival date may be changed from February 22 to February 8, due to a few factors. We are waiting for the confirmation from Miramar College, and will notify you later.

Good evening, Hua Xia Families!
 
1) Looks like we have more and more parents joining the hiking group. Morning group is added! If you would like to sweat some, and get to know other parents, please check out the flyer!
 
2) PTA room is open every week from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, unless it is reserved by the Admin for meetings or tests.
 
3) Chinese New Year Festival date change is pending (from February 22 to February 8). We are still waiting for the confirmation from Miramar College, and will announce it later.

Good evening, Hua Xia Families!
 
After this Sunday, school will be closed on 11/30 for Thanksgiving break. Class resumes on December 7 at regular hours.
 
Classes which plan to have party, please be sure to take pre-cautions and clean up afterwards. No food or food containers leave inside the classrooms. Furniture must be returned to their original places before party ends.

3) The Administration is planning the annual Hua Xia Chinese New Year Festival. We need everyone to pitch in to make it another fun event! Here are something you are encouraged to consider:
 
    - Join the Chinese Drum Team 腰鼓队 and have fun! No experience required. Anyone, boys and girls, parents and grandparents, all can learn it in a couple times of training.     - Join the Dragon Team 舞龙队 and be proud! No experience required. High school students and Dads preferred. It is a unique experience you won't find it anywhere else in town!     Both our Chinese Drum Team and Dragon Team are the only kind in San Diego! We are very proud of the teams' previous performance!!

    - "Big Head Dolls" need students! Fun! Funny!! Please contact your room parents. 
 
Parents' participation in either teams or being referee maybe counted toward your service hours. High school students volunteering may contribute to your community service hours. 
 
    - Contribute to your Class activities! Host a booth! Food, games, merchandise... Make it fun and make it $$ !! You have ideas, and just make it happen!! 
 
4) One more reminder to Parents of PM class students, please pick up your students on time, especially those of Credit classes.

Time flies by, Holiday season is just around the corner! You can almost smell the cinnamon and the sweet... Chinese New Year Festival is also on our agenda.
 
1) Chinese Drum Team 腰鼓队 is recruiting! No experience required. Anyone, boys and girls, parents and grandparents, all can learn in a couple of training. It is fun! The previous players are from age of 5 to 85!

After a wonderful Thanksgiving break, I'm sure we are all ready for the school! School resumes this Sunday, 12/7, at regular hours.
