Founded in 1997, San Diego Hua Xia Chinese School (SDHXCS) is a nonprofit, secular, and apolitical educational organization with 501(c)(3) status. The school is the first local Chinese language school that teaches simplified Chinese and Pinyin (Chinese phonetic).
Our mission is to provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for students to acquire skills of comprehension, communication, reading and writing in Mandarin Chinese,to instill an awareness of the Chinese heritage, creating programs to introduce Chinese culture to the community, and to promote mutual understanding between different ethnic groups.
Our school grow rapidly since very beginning. With enrollment over 1,100 each school year, SDHXCS has become the largest Chinese language educational organization in San Diego. Five programs (Bilingual, Regular, Credit, AP Chinese, and Enrichment) offer 60 Chinese classes and over 30 enrichment classes to meet the needs of our students with different levels of proficiency and interests.
In 2003, SDHXCS's Credit Program (Level I through Level IV) was born. The program is widely accredited by local school districts. In 2006, AP Chinese course was added. The course is approved by and registered with College Board. The programs are fully accredited by ASC WACS (Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Colleges and Schools).

Dear Hua Xia Families,
元宵节快乐！（March 2）
1) CNY ticket redeem from 10:30 to 2:30 in the office. Booth hosts please count your collected tickets, bundle it up in 50s, put it a brown bag, mark it with your class ID (or business name for non Hua Xia organizations. )
2) College application counseling! Ivymax (飞达学院) will host a seminar on March 11, at A-110, 10:00 - 12:00. Pre-registration required. See attached flyer for QR code.
3) “寻根之旅” Summer camp. A few camps will open very soon. Please pay close attention to the announcement (from your teachers' email, or on school website>Home>Weekly Newsletter. Refer to the instructions attached here.
4) Lost & Found on 2/18 CNY Festival, a blue folding chair and navy blue lady's blazer (Jones New York). The owner please come to the office to pick it up.
5) No visa service this week. Next service April 8.

Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday!! Please remember to move your clock 1 hour forward Saturday night before go to bed. Go to bed a little earlier, and meet the sun happily!

April 29, 12:45 pm - 1:45 pm, at I-101.
All qualified students (including current Hua Xia students) who plan to take credit class must register for 2018-2019 school year before coming to take the placement test.
5) Enrollment for 2018-2019 begins on April 22. Current Hua Xia students must register from MyCourse personal account with your student ID. Be sure to update your personal file while you are logged in.
6) Next visa service : April 8.
