Founded in 1997, San Diego Hua Xia Chinese School (SDHXCS) is a nonprofit, secular, and apolitical educational organization with 501(c)(3) status. The school is the first local Chinese language school that teaches simplified Chinese and Pinyin (Chinese phonetic).
Our mission is to provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for students to acquire skills of comprehension, communication, reading and writing in Mandarin Chinese,to instill an awareness of the Chinese heritage, creating programs to introduce Chinese culture to the community, and to promote mutual understanding between different ethnic groups.
Our school grow rapidly since very beginning. With enrollment over 1,100 each school year, SDHXCS has become the largest Chinese language educational organization in San Diego. Five programs (Bilingual, Regular, Credit, AP Chinese, and Enrichment) offer 60 Chinese classes and over 30 enrichment classes to meet the needs of our students with different levels of proficiency and interests.
In 2003, SDHXCS's Credit Program (Level I through Level IV) was born. The program is widely accredited by local school districts. In 2006, AP Chinese course was added. The course is approved by and registered with College Board. The programs are fully accredited by ASC WACS (Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Colleges and Schools).

I can't believe we are closing in to the days of the school year. This is week 29th, One more to go!
1) Regarding SDUHSD credit acceptance policy issue, we will host an informational meeting in PTA room (F-209) at 10 am - 10:30 am this Sunday. Parents are welcome to join.
2) Looking for college prep SAT and consultation? Join us at the presentation by IvyMax on this Sunday, 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm, Room S5-205. See attached flyer for details.
3) Credit class Parent Service Deposit refund continue til next week 5/14. Do Not miss it !
Time: 10:00 am -12:30 pm, and 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm.
Location: by the office.
4) Credit Program Placement Test for students not currently enrolled in Hua Xia is this week, May 7, 12 noon - 1:30, at I-101A. Check in time 11We encourage all 7th grade and up students who wish to be enrolled in Hua Xia Credit Program in 2017_18 take this test.
To take the test, you need these information:
a) complete 2017_18 registration and bring a copy of the confirmation. Students won't be admitted to the test site without registration.
b) know your current Chinese class ID, your teacher's name,your grade level (for Hua Xia Students only);
c) know the name of your school, district, and grade level (in Fall);
d) your birth day, English and Chinese name;
e) your parent's phone number and email address.
5) Visa service on May 7, 10 am - 2 pm, in the office.
6) May 14 is the last school day for 2017-2018. All classes will be in full session.
7) Student store opens on May 14. Be sure to bring your hard earned coupons.
8) There is NO event on May 21 as previously indicated on school calendar. Graduation/Promotion celebration will be combined with SDHXCS 20th anniversary celebration on Saturday, June 3rd.

10) Registration deadline for current Hua Xia students is May 14. After 12:00 am midnight a $35 registration fee will be automatically added. If you have to pay by check, be sure to submit to the office before 3 pm on May 14, or post marked so by mail.
11) Online payment is the best way to complete your registration. No more waiting in line, No more requesting for receipt. Hassle free!
12) Enrichment classes registration will be open at a later time during the summer. Please visit our website in July.

Dear Hua Xia Families,
We are finally reaching the last week of 2016-2017 school year! I want to take a moment to thank all of those dedicated teachers, staffs and volunteers who made this school stand and strong possible. I want to thank all our students who have worked hard on their study, and all the parents who have been diligently sending and encouraging their children to Hua Xia all these Sundays. It really takes a village to make this happen.
I wish all the best to our 35 graduates, hoping that what they have learned at Hua Xia in the past years planted a seed in their heart, that they will carry on Chinese culture all through their life.

1) ENRICHMENT CLASS begins in this week, Sept. 17. Course schedule and introduction are available on website. All classes are open for enrollment. You must complete registration before 9/17 to be able to attend the class.

To parents with younger students, it is highly recommended that you guide your student to the location at least for the first class meet.

Welcome back to San Diego Hua Xia Chinese School!
I hope you all had a very good summer and a wonderful Labor Day party. 2017-2018 school year begins on this coming Sunday, September 10th. Our staffs have been busy to get ready and welcome you all.
Notes for the first school day:
1) By now most of you should have received a WELCOME LETTER from your new teacher, informing you the grade level, class ID, room number, class schedule, as well as other instructions for the first day. You may also find your class by login to your student account. Forgotten password can be easily retrieved online.

2) If you HAVEN'T REGISTERED, please complete your online registration at home. If you can not complete registration at home due to technique problem, please stop by the office on the first day of school.
3) SAFETY is our #1 concern. Opening day is always busy and exciting. Please allow yourself enough time to park and find classroom. Drive slowly on campus (15 mph), pay close attention to pedestrians.
4) CAMPUS MAP is attached here for your convenience. The buildings highlighted are the ones we use. H (Regular classes), S5 (Credit classes), I (mixed), and F-2 building is where office located.
5) CLASS ASSIGNMENT will be posted in the H building lobby (Regular), and on the wall of S5 building (Credit) for your convenience, in case you don't know which class to go.
6) PARKING Lot 1, 2, 3 are the main areas for us to park. Please Do Not park in the Reserved or Handicapped space unless you have a permit. Do Not park in front of the office for any reason. It is reserved for school officials to load / unload supplies. Absolutely NO parking on the roadside. Campus Police can issue violation tickets.
7) Drop OFF student in the mid of the road is definitely a NO NO. It is dangerous for your student, and inconvenient for others. Be courteous to others as you wish others to you.
8) MANDATORY PARENT MEETING at the beginning of the first period. Meet your teachers, understand regulations and expectations, submit required paper work (credit class), and purchase textbooks (bring a check).
9) ENRICHMENT CLASS begins in the 2nd week, Sept. 17. Course schedule and introduction are available on website. Please read through the Registration Notice before sign up. No refund, prorate, or change of class once 1st class meet begins. You must complete registration before 9/17 to be able to attend the class.
To parents with younger student, it is highly recommended that you guide your student to the location for the first class meet.
10) PARENT SERVICE starts from day 1. It is an important part of our school operation. Service schedules are set by Vice Principal Tina Zhang. You will be notified ahead of time. Please review the Safety Patrol Duties and Safety Patrol Checklist to understand your responsibility.
11) VISA SERVICE passport returns on Sept.10, 12 noon in the office. Next service is October 1st.
Last but very IMPORTANT, please pick up your student right after Chinese class this Sunday.
