Dear Parents: please read together with your student(s), understand Student Guide and Parent Guide. Sign the Parent Acceptance of Responsibility Form on the last page of this guide, and return to your students' teachers on the first day of school.

Important School Days & Holidays

9/8 First day of school.  AM class begins at 9:30am, PM class begins at 1:30pm.

9/15 Enrichment class begins.

11/24 Thanksgiving. No school.

12/22, 12/29 Christmas. No school.

1/12 2nd semester begins.

2/9 Chinese New Year Festival. 

2/16 President Day. No school.

4/6 Spring Break. 

4/20 Registration for year 2014-2015 begins.

5/11 Last day of school.

5/18 Promotion/Graduation Ceremony.

 Visa service: First Sundays, with a few exceptions. Refer to school calendar of the    year.  

 

Registration & Refund Policy

To Register

Current students submit the forms, tuition and the Liability Waiver to the room parents or teachers, who then turn in all collected registrations as groups to the Administration;

New students register individually in the office or by mail.

Registration forms, Registration Notice, and Liability Waiver can be found on school website : www.sdhxcs.net, under download.

Tuition & Fees 

Refer to Registration Notice and Forms for actual amount. Tuition and fees must be paid in full at the time of registration. Sibling discount not valid for extended family members or friends even with the same home address. $30 charge for each bounced check. 

 

Textbooks & Workbooks 

Available at the school for the convenience of students.  Students may also choose to purchase it elsewhere.

 

Refund policy:  regardless of student's actual attendance

· $35 registration fee is not refundable;

· $20 processing fee is deducted from the tuition paid;

· For Regular Program, $20 is deducted per week if the withdrawal occurs before October 6. No refund after October 6;

· For Credit Program, $30 ($50 for AP class) is deducted for each week passed. No refund for withdrawal occurs after November 17. 

· To withdraw, please download the withdrawal form from school website at www.sdhxcs.net, send the completed form to the office or mail it to: SDHXCS, P.O.Box 928338, San Diego, Ca 92192. 

 

On Campus & In the Classrooms

1. Drop off or walk your student(s) into the classroom 5 minutes before first class begins;  pick up your student(s) within 10 minutes after class is over. SDHXCS is Not responsible for the safety of your student(s) after classes.

 

2. Inform teachers ahead of time if your student(s) are going to arrive late or need to leave earlier. 

 

3. Late pick up: 

· For younger student (4th grade or under) who is not picked up  within 10 minutes after class is over, the student will be escorted to the school office (before the office closure time at 5:00pm). 

· A late fee will be charged on spot:

 $15 for the first 10 minutes, $30 for up to 30 minutes, and $50 for up to closure of the office. 

· If late pick-up happens multiple times to the same student and/or siblings,  all students from the same household may be dismissed. There will be no refund under this circumstance.

 

4. Parents/guardians may not stay inside the classroom when class is in session. Class observation needs the teacher's permission, and no more than 2 parents may sit-in per class session. 

 

When you do stay for class observation, be respectful to the teacher, no interruption or question is allowed unless you are invited by the teacher to participate class activities. For questions or concerns, discuss them with the teacher after class, or with the administration. Electronic devices should not be used during your class observation. 

 

5. If you have to do an early pick-up, do it quickly and quietly; if you choose to stay inside the building while waiting for your student(s), keep your voice low and cell phone off so classes won't be disturbed.

 

6. Keep the restroom clean and tidy after your youngsters finish his/her business.

 

7. Follow the sign and direction of the traffic patrol when driving on the campus.  For everyone's safety, please keep your speed under 15mph.  

 

 

Parents Obligation

 

8. SDHXCS is run by volunteer parents. Parents' support is the key for the survival of the school. Therefore, it is every parent's obligation to help out at school activities at least once every school year. Volunteer schedules are master-planned by the Administration, and notified to each parent prior to the date of the service.

 

9. Parents assigned for volunteer duties must report to the group leader on time, be ready, and may leave only after the duty is completed.

 

10. When there is a schedule conflict to the planned service date, an email notice should be send to the Vice Principal in charge at least one week ahead of time. One-time rescheduling maybe requested during the school year. For parents who fail to do assigned duties by the end of the school year, the $50 service deposit will not be refunded.

 

11. Refund of Service Deposit will be in gift card format, at the choice of the Administration.  

 

12. Parents must provide emergency contact and medical insurance information. 

In situations when a student needs to seek immediate medical attention, the parents will be fully responsible for all expenses. (Refer to the Liability Waiver)

 

13. Class meets are once a week on Sundays only. Therefore, it is not only the teachers' but also the parents' responsibility to supervise and support your student(s) in studying Chinese language and culture.  Checking homework, preparing for tests/projects, participating school events are among parents' obligation. Your involvement will show that you care about your students' study in this school.

 

 

SDHXCS may update its regulations at any time when it is necessary. SDHXCS reserves the final interpretation of its policies and regulations, including but not limited to Parent Guide and Student Guide.

 

SDHXCS is a big family. To make it successful, the Administration welcomes and encourages parents' involvement in every aspect of the school management.  Let us work together, for a peaceful and pleasant environment for our children, for introducing and promoting Chinese language and culture, and for better understanding between different cultures!
