            Founded in 1997, San Diego Hua Xia Chinese School (SDHXCS) is a nonprofit, secular, and apolitical educational organization with 501(c)(3) status.  The school is the first local Chinese language school that teaches simplified Chinese and Pinyin (Chinese phonetic). 

          Our mission is to provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for students to acquire skills of comprehension, communication, reading and writing in Mandarin Chinese,to instill an awareness of the Chinese heritage, creating programs to introduce Chinese culture to the community, and to promote mutual understanding between different ethnic groups. 

          Our school grow rapidly since very beginning. With enrollment over 1,100 each school year, SDHXCS has become the largest Chinese language educational organization in San Diego.  Five programs (Bilingual, Regular, Credit, AP Chinese, and Enrichment) offer 60 Chinese classes and over 30 enrichment classes to meet the needs of our students with different levels of proficiency and interests.

          In 2003, SDHXCS's Credit Program (Level I through Level IV) was born. The program is widely accredited by local school districts. In 2006, AP Chinese course was added. The course is approved by and registered with College Board. The programs are fully accredited by ASC WACS (Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Colleges and Schools).

Dear SDHXCS families,

Here are the notes for the coming Sundays:

  • Daylight Saving Time ends this coming Sunday 11/4. Don’t forget to wind back your clock and relax the extra hour before you come to school.
  • SDHXCS Board Meeting will be held this coming Sunday 11/4 at F-209. The first 15-minute of the meeting (3:15pm – 3:30pm) is open to the public. Anyone interested are welcome to attend. Please be on time.
  • If you were a 2017-18 school year Regular or Bilingual program room parent, this Sunday is your last day to claim your current year tuition discount of $50 (gift card). Please stop by office F-212 10:00am – 3:00pm.
  • During this month PTA “Chat and Share”(11/4, the coming Sunday), PTA is calling for all the parents to join the project “Save HuaXia Dragon”.

Location: seating area between H building and I building
Hours: 11/4 (the coming Sunday) 10:00am-3:00pm

Repair supplies will be provided & Light snacks and coffee will be served. Please see attached invitation from our VP Tina and join the PTA WeChat group using the attached QR code.

  • Snack Bar is located at H building lobby for the convenience of parents and students. Limited options of healthy snacks are at $0.50-$1.00/piece.
  • Students safety is always our top priority. We assign parents on duty to perform routine safety patrol on the campus. However, we need all the parents to constantly remind your student/(s) and their siblings DO NOT run or chase aroundon the campus, in the classroom, or in the hallway to avoid hurting or getting hurt. Also, it is very important for everyone on campus to be alert and report any suspicious person or behavior immediately to police on campus 619-388-6405 or custodian 619-756-8058. Together, let’s ensure a safe and fun Chinese learning environment for our students.

  • Students safety is always our top priority. We invited the San Diego Police Department to present an information session on campus safety on 12/2/2018 10:00 am & 2:00 pm at F-209. All the parents are invited
  • To help better understand our classroom teaching and to continuously improve teaching performance, the school is conducting an anonymous parent survey as attached. A hard copy of the survey can be obtained in office F-212 and mobile office at Building H lobby.   • Mark your calendar for our annual Chinese New Year Event on 1/20/2019. We are now ready to accept the performance application due by 12/22/2018 (form attached). Our goal is to celebrate Chinese New Year in the Chinese Way, more people to participate, more food to eat, and more fun to enjoy! Therefore, we highly encourage group performance. Students, parents, grandparents, friends, and teachers, come to show and share the spirit with everyone
  • With the holiday season approaching, the school will be on and off in the coming months. School calendar is attached to help you better schedule your family vacation hoping the students will miss as less school as they can
  • PTA continues working on the project “Save Hua Xia Dragon”. If you are available on the campus, come and join us. The team had made a lot of progress, had a lot of fun and made a lot of friends!
