Founded in 1997, San Diego Hua Xia Chinese School (SDHXCS) is a nonprofit, secular, and apolitical educational organization with 501(c)(3) status.  The school is the first local Chinese language school that teaches simplified Chinese and Pinyin (Chinese phonetic). 

          Our mission is to provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for students to acquire skills of comprehension, communication, reading and writing in Mandarin Chinese,to instill an awareness of the Chinese heritage, creating programs to introduce Chinese culture to the community, and to promote mutual understanding between different ethnic groups. 

          Our school grow rapidly since very beginning. With enrollment over 1,100 each school year, SDHXCS has become the largest Chinese language educational organization in San Diego.  Five programs (Bilingual, Regular, Credit, AP Chinese, and Enrichment) offer 60 Chinese classes and over 30 enrichment classes to meet the needs of our students with different levels of proficiency and interests.

          In 2003, SDHXCS's Credit Program (Level I through Level IV) was born. The program is widely accredited by local school districts. In 2006, AP Chinese course was added. The course is approved by and registered with College Board. The programs are fully accredited by ASC WACS (Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Colleges and Schools).

Here are the keynotes for the coming Sundays:

  • Our school WeChat official account(微信公众号)is SDHXCS. This is an efficient information sharing platform for our school and Chinese education related topics. Attached is the QR code that you can scan and follow. We do not have weekly news during summer break, but we will continue news broadcasting using the WeChat official account. So please share it with your friends and family and follow us
  • 2019-20 online registration is ongoing. Current SDHXCS students will need the student ID to login to the moodle account for registration. If you don’t know your ID, please contact your teacher. $35 Registration fee is waived for current students if the registration is completed before 5/19. Attached you will find the keynotes for the registration. Please refer to our school website Registration page for details. Enrichment registration will be ready by early August
  • The registration to Chinese Culture Knowledge Group Competition (汉语文化知识抢答竞赛) is open for SDHXCS students 4thgrader and up. The registration deadline is 5/12 and the competition date is 6/2. This will be a fun group competition before the summer break kickoff. Please see attached details for the competition
  • Credit class $50 service deposit refund is available for pick up on 5/12 & 5/19 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm outside of office F-212. Please plan your pick-up time accordingly. Unclaimed refund will be donated to school fund
  • The 2018-19 graduation ceremony is scheduled on 6/1 2:00pm – 5:00pm at Qualcomm Q Auditorium. If you would like to share your talent on the stage, please submit your application by 5/11 using the attached Performance_Registration form
  • The anonymous parent survey is still ongoing. Your participation is really appreciated, and our students will eventually benefit. A softcopy of the survey is attached.   • Good news! An H-mart flagship store is coming soon close to Balboa Avenue. Please see attached for the details

Time flies! I can’t believe this will be the last Sunday for the school year. Please read along carefully as this will be the last weekly news before the next school year starts in late August. During the summer break, our teachers should continue to check their school email messages.   • 2019-20 school year will start on 8/25/2019. Please expect the welcome email in the week of 8/18/2019 from your new teacher. Attached is the 2019-20 school calendar for your family next year schedule planning purposes.
  • Our school WeChat official account(微信公众号)is SDHXCS.  During the summer, we will broadcast news and introduce enrichment classes using the WeChat official account. So please follow us and share it with your friends and family.
  • 2019-20 online registration is ongoing. $35 registration waive expires this Sunday 5/19. All the registration is subject to the registration fee after 5/19 midnight with no exception. Attached you will find the keynotes for the registration. Please refer to our school website Registration page for details. Enrichment registration will be ready by early August.

To parents with a younger student, it is highly recommended that you guide your student to the location for the class meet. 

  • CAMPUS MAP is attached here for your convenience. The buildings highlighted are the ones we use. H (Regular classes), S5 (Credit classes), I (mixed), and F-2 building is where our office located.
  • PARKING Lot 1, 2, 3 are the main areas for us to park. Please Do Not parking in the Reserved or Handicapped space unless you have a permit. Do Not park in front of the office for any reason. It is reserved for school staff to load/unload supplies. Absolutely NO parking on the roadside. Campus Police can issue violation tickets.
  • Drop OFF student in the mid of the road is definitely a NO NO. It is dangerous for your student, and inconvenient for others. Be courteous to others as you wish others to you.

Welcome back to San Diego Hua Xia Chinese School (SDHXCS)! Hope you all had a wonderful summer break. Our school staff and teachers have been busy getting ready for the new school year and now we are excited to start the 2019-20 school year this coming Sunday (8/25/2019). The school calendar is attached, please plan your family vacation accordingly.

Notes for the first school day:

  • By now you should have received a welcome email from your teacher, informing you the classroom, class schedule, mandatory parent meeting at the beginning of the first period, as well as other first-day instruction. You may also find your class by login to your student account. The default password is the student’s birthday in the format of YYYYMMDD. Forgotten password can be easily retrieved online. 
For new students, you may contact your teacher for username.

If you HAVEN'T REGISTERED, please complete your online registration at home. All the information you need can be found on the school website, or by contacting us at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . If you cannot complete registration at home due to technical problems, please stop by one of our mobile offices on the first day of school.

  • We will have one mobile office in the H building lobby for Regular Program and another one under S5 building for the Credit Program. Jenny will set up a table for the Enrichment Program in the H building lobby as well.

To parents with a younger student, it is highly recommended that you guide your student to the location for the first-class meet. 

  • SAFETY is our #1 concern. Opening day is always busy and exciting. The traffic is expected to be heavy. Please allow yourself enough time to park and you’re your classroom. Drive slowly on campus (15 mph), pay close attention to pedestrians.

After two weeks of trial classes, all the students need to complete registration before attending the 9/15 enrichment classes. Jenny and I will set up a desk in H building lobby to take care of any withdrawal and/or exchange for the canceled enrichment classes only.

Parents morning Zumba and Yoga classes & afternoon Martial Arts Dance class will start this Sunday 9/15. Registration is to be completed in the classroom with the teachers, check or cash.
