Founded in 1997, San Diego Hua Xia Chinese School (SDHXCS) is a nonprofit, secular, and apolitical educational organization with 501(c)(3) status. The school is the first local Chinese language school that teaches simplified Chinese and Pinyin (Chinese phonetic).
Our mission is to provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for students to acquire skills of comprehension, communication, reading and writing in Mandarin Chinese,to instill an awareness of the Chinese heritage, creating programs to introduce Chinese culture to the community, and to promote mutual understanding between different ethnic groups.
Our school grow rapidly since very beginning. With enrollment over 1,100 each school year, SDHXCS has become the largest Chinese language educational organization in San Diego. Five programs (Bilingual, Regular, Credit, AP Chinese, and Enrichment) offer 60 Chinese classes and over 30 enrichment classes to meet the needs of our students with different levels of proficiency and interests.
In 2003, SDHXCS's Credit Program (Level I through Level IV) was born. The program is widely accredited by local school districts. In 2006, AP Chinese course was added. The course is approved by and registered with College Board. The programs are fully accredited by ASC WACS (Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Colleges and Schools).

Weekly Reminder 2016-04-03
Dear Hua Xia Families,
1) Visa service this Sunday, April 3rd. 10 am - 2 pm, in the office.
2) Join us for a special Appreciation of Chinese Poem Recital ! This Sunday, 9:30 - 10:30 am, PTA room. Presenter: Peng Shiqiang Laoshi. Please see flyer for details.
3) HOC Essay Contest deadline is next Monday 4/4! All students are highly encouraged to participate in this annual contest. Practice your Chinese writing skills and get recognized! Application is attached here again.
4) Credit Program Placement test for current Hua Xia Students is scheduled on 4/24, at 12 noon - 1:15 pm, at I-101A . Students who are entering 7th grade at public school in year 2016-2017, and are new students to Credit Program, are highly recommended to take the test . Please plan ahead.
For new students to Hua Xia, the placement test is on May 8, same time and location.
Requirement for All testers, be sure to bring your parent's email address and parent phone number with you. For Current Hua Xia students, your Class ID and your Chinese teacher's name must be entered on the test paper.
5) The 3rd American Chinese Youth Art Festival is calling on submissions for Art Contest (deadline 4/19). Students, your talent is precious, and there is no better way than present it in the spotlight! Please refer to the attached flyer for details.

Dear Hua Xia Families,
We are entering week 27. Three more weeks to go before the end of the school year!
1) Credit Program Placement test for current Hua Xia Students is this coming Sunday 4/24, 12 noon - 1:15 pm, at I-101A . Students who are entering 7th grade at public schools in year 2016-2017, and wish to take credit class are highly recommended to take the test . (Students who are already in credit class do NOT need to take the test).
For new students to Hua Xia, the placement test is set on May 8, same time and location.
Requirement for All testers: a) parent's email and phone number; b) school name and district in 2016_17; c) grade level in 2016_17 in your school; d) for current Hua Xia students, Class ID and Chinese teacher's name .
2) Registration for year 2016-2017 continues. We are very pleased to see so many parents registered and paid within the first 2 days ! The feedback is very encouraging. Please keep in mind, current students must complete registration before 5/14 midnight to avoid the registration fee. Enrollment Instructions is attached here for your convenience.
3) Parent service. If you need to reschedule service time, please contact your room parent and VP Administration Tina as soon as possible. Only 3 weeks left.
4) Next visa service is May 1, 10 am - 2 pm.

This is week 28th. Two more weeks to go !
1) Visa service this week, May 1, 10 am - 2 pm.
2) Parent Service Deposit refund for Credit class begins this Sunday 5/1, and continues on 5/8, 5/16 by the office, 10:00 am - 12 noon, and 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. 5/16 will be the last day for refund. Please do not miss it, and come on time. Parents who pick up the refund for others must present a valid ID.
3) Registration for year 2016-2017 continues. Current students, Please keep in mind, you must complete registration before 5/14 midnight (online payment) to avoid the registration fee. Enrollment Instructions is attached here for your convenience. Room parents need to submit all collected tuition/forms (if any) on 5/15, the last day.
